Design and construction of an educational hydraulic test bench for Scenario srl, delivered and installed at ‘Gente di Mare’, the Fratelli Cosulich Group’s centre of excellence for maritime training in Livorno. A hydraulic system for demonstrating and studying the operation of centrifugal pumps driven by asynchronous motors, one of which has variable speed control via an inverter; the operation of these pumps in series, in parallel or individually; and the inclusion of an ejector for studying the Venturi effect and cavitation. The equipment enables future technicians to understand and learn, through practical experience with the hydraulic test bench, the physical phenomena and dynamics that occur in both simple and complex hydraulic pumping systems. It is also possible to plot the performance curve of centrifugal pumps by measuring and analysing flow rate and pressure at specific points.
